Long Term Availability

Embedded Artists have a policy to always continue producing our modules for integration as long as key components are available. When possible, components are selected based on long term availability promises from manufacturers.

Product Life Cycle Management

If a component becomes obsolete Embedded Artists will work towards finding fully compatible alternatives. If a compatible alternative doesn't exist, Embedded Artists will make sure to find an alternative component that requires minimum software updates.

Product Change Notification (PCN)

If a significant change is needed on an integration product, you will be informed through a product change notification (PCN). You register what products you are interested in on your support account.

To register for a PCN:

  1. Login to your account (or create a new account).
  2. Go to the PCN page (only accessible when you are logged in).
  3. Select the product(s) you are interested in and add to your account.
  4. Whenever a change is planned on a product you will be informed by an e-mail message.

Last Time Buy

In the rare cases where a microcontroller / processor becomes obsolete Embedded Artists will offer you a Last Time Buy of the module and recommend a suitable replacement. If needed we will help you make the transition to a new module as easy as possible.

Longevity

The list below show the expected longevity of our modules. This is based on the current longevity stated by the silicon vendors.

Product Classification

Embedded Artists' products are classified into two categories and three maturity levels, as outlined below.

Integration Product   Evaluation Product

This product is designed for integration and Embedded Artists take lifetime management responsibility for the product.

There are three maturity levels for a product in this class:

  • In Development/Sampling: the product is in the development phase and being tested by early adopter customers. Specification can change at any time without prior notice.

  • Volume: a volume product is fully developed, has passed product characterization and has been integrated into volume products. Embedded Artists recommend this product for development and final deployment.The product specification is frozen and will only change when absolutely needed. Embedded Artists will issue a PCN prior to any change.

  • Mature: a mature product is reaching its end of life. It is still produced but not recommended for new designs. We recommend existing customers using this product to start preparing for a design upgrade. Embedded Artists strive to have suitable alternatives to recommend.

    If needed and if possible, Embedded Artists will offer existing volume customers a Last Time Buy.

Note that customers must register as product users. Else Embedded Artists has no reliable communication channel for PCN and Last Time Buy offers. Contact Embedded Artists support for details around this.

Product specification can change at any time without prior notice.

Embedded Artists does not guarantee long term availability for these products.

It is not recommended to integrate a product in this class into an end-product without first contacting Embedded Artists for a discussion.
