LPC1769 LPCXpresso / LPCXpresso1769 with CMSIS-DAP

The LPCXpresso1769 board with CMSIS-DAP containing NXP's ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller has been designed to make it as easy as possible to get started with Cortex-M3. The board is the successor of the original LPC1769 LPCXpresso board. This updated version has several enhancements;

  • The debug interface is CMSIS-DAP compatible, meaning that it is supported by many development environments, including (but not limited to) LPCXpresso IDE, uVision from Keil/ARM, Embedded Workbench from IAR, etc.
  • The CMSIS-DAP debugger can be disabled with a jumper, allowing an external debugger to be connected (via a standard 10 pos Cortex debug connector)
  • The debug side can be removed in a simpler way than before (snap/break off), but note that it is not possible to connect the two parts again. After breaking off the debug side, we recommend using LPC-Link2 as the debug solution.
  • RGB-LED has been added
  • ISP-enable push-button has been added
  • Reset push-button has been added
  • The pcb is a 4-layer design with better grounding and power supply layout, making the board better suited for integration
  • The overall board size is smaller, but the expansion pins (2x27 positions) are mechanically compatible with the original design - making the transition to this new version very smooth

The LPC1769 has 64 kB SRAM, 512 kB Flash, 4xUART, 3xI2C, SPI, 2xSSP, 2xCAN, PWM, USB 2.0 Device/Host/OTG, RTC, Ethernet, I2S, etc.

Recommended Book

Embedded Artists recommends Richard Barry's book "Using the FreeRTOS Real Time Kernel - a Practical Guide", which includes sixteen examples written specifically for the LPC17xx Cortex M3. This is a concise, step by step, 'hands on' guide that describes both general multitasking concepts and FreeRTOS specifics. The book is purchased here.
